TWELVE DAYS RWANDA DISCOVERY SAFARI

Day 1: KIGALI
Arrival in Kigali – welcome by your tour guide – check-in at hotel – Kigali city tour.

Day 2: kigali - NTARAMA - AKAREGA NATIONAL PARK
Transfer to Ntarama – visit the genocide memorial – transfer to Akagera National Park – boat ride on Lake Ihema – optional: Luxurious camping in the Park (or comfortable Akagera Game Lodge)

Day 3: AKAREGA NATIONAL PARK
Game drives within the park.

Day 4: AKAREGA NATIONAL PARK - BUTARE - NYANZA
Transfer to Butare – visit the Cathedral of Kabgayi and the church museum – visit the ancient King’s palace at Nyanza, Rwanda art and the women drumming group at the university.

Day 5: BUTARE - NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK
Visit the university, market, National Museum in Butare and enjoy the dancers at the museum then transfer to Nyungwe National Park – visit a tea plantation – afternoon primate viewing in Nyungwe National Park.

Day 6: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK
Trekking of Chimps in Nyungwe National Park Or (the beautiful Waterfall, source of the Nile, birding, nature walks).

Day 7: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK - KIBUYE - LAKE KIVU
Transfer to Kibuye and visit Bisesero enroute to Kibuye church and Nyange genocide memorial – boat tour to Amahoro Island, the Island of Peace late afternoon.

Day 8: GISENYI AND LAKE KIVU
Boat transfer to Gisenyi – visit the fishing village, hot springs, brewery and communities around.

Day 9: HOT SPRING AND KINIGI
Transfer to Kinigi – experience traditional dancers and learn about Rwandan drumming, singing and dancing – Extra:-learn about Rwandan cooking in a local family – optional overnight stay in a family home (or comfort-able recommended hotel).

Day 10: TWIN LAKES AND BUHANGA FOREST
Transfer to a fishing village at Lake Ruhondo – learn about local fishing methods and visit Street Children Project in Ruhengeri; learn about sorghum or banana beer production by a women cooperative, visit a woman cooperative producing handicrafts made of banana leaves.

Day 11: GORILLA TREKKING
Gorilla trekking.

Day 12: KIGALI
Transfer to Kigali – time to go to the crafts market at CAPLAK and buy some souvenirs – transfer to the airport.
